Shifa International Hospital has become the only hospital in the world to simultaneously earn Joint Commission International (JCI) Clinical Care Program Certification for both Acute Ischemic Stroke and Acute Coronary Syndrome programs.
According to a hospital spokesperson, only five other hospitals worldwide hold either of the two certifications individually, while Shifa is the only institution to achieve both at the same time. The achievement places the hospital among a select group of healthcare providers recognized for excellence in stroke and cardiac care.
The certifications were awarded after JCI surveyors conducted detailed evaluations of the hospital’s clinical care programs, assessing every stage of patient care, from emergency response and diagnosis to treatment, rehabilitation and long-term management.
JCI accreditation is regarded as one of the highest international benchmarks for patient safety and quality of care.
The hospital said the achievement reflects the efforts of its multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, quality teams and support staff, who worked together to meet rigorous international standards.
Shifa Chief Executive Dr. Zeeshan Bin Ishtiaque described the recognition as a historic milestone and credited the hospital’s staff for their dedication and teamwork.
The dual certification also marks a first for Pakistan, making Shifa the country’s first hospital to receive JCI Clinical Care Program Certification in both Acute Ischemic Stroke and Acute Coronary Syndrome programs.
