Pakistan Navy rescued seven crew members, including six Indian nationals and one Indonesian, from a distressed offshore vessel in the Arabian Sea after receiving an emergency alert.

According to the military’s media wing, the vessel, identified as MV Gautam, suffered a serious technical fault while travelling from Oman to India, leaving it stranded at sea.

Following the distress call, Pakistan Navy moved quickly to respond and deployed PMSA Ship Kashmir for the rescue operation. The alert was received through the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Mumbai.

Officials said the rescue team provided food, medical support and technical assistance to the stranded crew in order to restore essential systems and ensure their safety.

The military said the operation reflected Pakistan Navy’s commitment to maritime safety and humanitarian responsibilities in regional waters, regardless of the nationality of those involved.

The latest rescue is part of a series of similar operations carried out by Pakistan Navy in recent years involving stranded merchant ships and fishing vessels.

Earlier in April, Pakistan Navy also rescued and evacuated 18 crew members from a merchant vessel in the North Arabian Sea after it sent out a distress call.

That crew included nationals from China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Vietnam and Indonesia, who were later brought to Karachi for medical treatment and repatriation.
