Vladimir Putin’s presidential envoy for international investment and economic cooperation, Kirill Dmitriev, has warned that the worsening Gulf situation could drive oil prices to historic highs and trigger an “energy tsunami.”
The Russian envoy has repeatedly argued that disruptions to energy markets caused by regional issues could lead to the largest energy crisis in history.
His latest warning came after Brent crude climbed above $100 per barrel. He said the “energy tsunami is accelerating” as markets react to growing concerns over global oil supplies.
Dmitriev has also linked the risks to instability in the Middle East, including threats to key shipping routes and oil exports. He warned that such developments could severely disrupt global energy markets.
