The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has officially notified a substantial reduction of Rs28.29 per liter in the price of kerosene oil, following the government’s major fuel relief package.

Under the new notification, kerosene oil will now be sold at Rs233.90 per liter, down from the previous rate of Rs282.19 per liter.

The move follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s announcement on Friday regarding a historic cut in petroleum prices. The Prime Minister attributed the massive relief to improved regional economic conditions and falling global oil prices, which the government is passing on to the public.

In addition to kerosene, the Prime Minister announced a Rs74 per liter reduction in petrol prices, bringing the rate down from Rs373 to Rs299 per liter. High-speed diesel (HSD) prices also saw a significant drop of Rs 67 per liter, falling from Rs 378 to Rs 311 per liter.

The Prime Minister stated that the reduction fulfills a commitment made to the nation to ease the financial burden on citizens. He credited successful diplomatic mediation and regional stability for helping stabilize energy costs.
