Mehwish Hayat and Fahad Mustafa’s latest film, Zombeid , hit theatres last month on Eidul Azha and was said to be the best of Pakistani cinema’s offerings for the holiday.
Hayat gave fans a look behind the action and thrill of Pakistan’s “first zombie thriller” on Thursday with an Instagram post showing behind the scenes shots of her and Mustafa.
In the pictures, the pair can be seen in their gym clothes — the film is largely set in a gym where both their characters work — smiling their way through the shoot.
There’s a shot of them both on a motorcycle together, one of Hayat posing next to a yellow car and even a video of the two, hand in hand, hanging from a rope ladder.
Referring to their characters in the caption, Hayat wrote, “You saw Zara (Hayat) and Wali (Mustafa) surviving the chaos on screen in Zombeid but behind the scenes it was all laughter, madness and Fahad’s brilliant sense of humour.”
She thanked Mustafa for “bringing the best energy to set and being the most fun co-star to survive a zombie apocalypse with”.
Hayat said the memories she made on set will “always make me smile”.
In the comments, the two actors had a cute exchange with Mustafa thanking Hayat and Hayat responding with a GIF saying “my hero”.
Zombeid is still screening in theatres nationwide for audiences, with Mustafa’s recent request for cinemas to be exempted from austerity-related timing restrictions in Punjab resulting in a loosening of curbs .
