A measles outbreak has spread across Sindh, killing 53 children and infecting more than 2,000 others in the province this year.

Dozens of children have also been admitted to hospitals as health experts express concern over the rising number of cases.

According to the report, more than 2,000 children in Sindh have contracted measles so far this year. During the same period, 53 children died from the disease in the province.

Pediatrician Dr. Khalid Shafi said that 2,000 children in Sindh have been affected by measles this year, while 96 children have died from measles across the country. He said 53 children in Sindh died after developing complications from the disease.

Doctors said the main reason behind the spread of measles in Sindh is that many parents are not getting their children vaccinated. Dr. Shafi said measles continues to spread despite being a treatable and preventable disease.

He urged parents to ensure their children receive protective vaccines.

Measles is a contagious disease that mostly affects children. Children who are not vaccinated are at greater risk of infection.

Early symptoms include cold, runny nose, cough and rash. The disease can severely weaken the immune system and, in serious cases, can become life-threatening.
