Lahore Grammar School (LGS) is facing fresh backlash after the school administration asked Grade IX O Level students to appear for exams on June 1 during summer holidays and instructed them to come in plain clothes instead of uniform.

According to the notice, the school examinations will resume from Monday, June 1, 2026, as per the date sheet, adding that students should come in “simple colored clothes” during the examinations.

The message has intensified criticism against LGS, which was already under fire over allegations that it was continuing academic activities despite Punjab’s heatwave-driven summer vacation orders.

The school is not only holding examinations during the holidays, but is also trying to avoid public attention and possible scrutiny by telling students not to wear their uniforms.

The instruction has sparked further concern online, with many questioning why students would be asked to attend exams in casual dress if everything was being conducted normally.

The latest development has added to growing complaints from students and parents, who say educational institutions should not be calling children to campus during extreme weather conditions and official summer closures.
