Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that the federal government is trying to ensure the upcoming budget places the minimum possible burden on the public.

Speaking to a private news channel, the finance minister said the budget will prioritize strengthening tax enforcement and compliance instead of introducing new taxes.

He said efforts are being made to keep inflation under control.

On regional matters, Aurangzeb said the government is actively working to reduce tensions in the region, adding that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts at the international level are being acknowledged.

He also urged political parties to move beyond criticism for the sake of opposition and instead work collectively toward economic stability.

Referring to the agriculture sector, the finance minister said the adoption of modern technology could significantly improve wheat output. Some farmers have already achieved yields of 60 to 70 maunds per acre.

Aurangzeb added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is fully aware of the challenges facing the agriculture sector and that higher productivity could substantially increase Pakistan’s export potential in the future.
