A late-night action by law enforcement agencies at One Constitution Avenue in Islamabad, one of the capital’s most expensive residential real estate projects, has been widely reported on social media platforms as officials went door to door and asked occupants to vacate the building.

The operation reportedly took place after the Islamabad High Court upheld the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) decision to cancel the lease of the high-rise project over a multibillion rupee default, a local newspaper has reported.

According to residents cited in the report, police officials entered the apartment building late at night and informed occupants that they had to leave by evening. Some residents also claimed that doors and locks of some apartments were forcibly broken during the action.

The reported evacuation attempt also drew attention on X, where several users shared posts about a heavy police presence at One Constitution Avenue. Journalist Hamza Azhar Salam posted that Islamabad Police had moved into the building and tried to vacate residents after legal issues linked to the project.

Former federal minister Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari also posted that police and other forces had entered One Constitution Avenue at night and told residents to leave their homes by morning.

Residents said the sudden action created fear and uncertainty among families living in the building. They claimed they were told that an “order from above” had been issued and that they had only 12 hours to vacate the property, the newspaper reported.

One Constitution Avenue is one of Islamabad’s most prominent residential and commercial projects. It is located in the capital’s Red Zone, an area that houses key government buildings, diplomatic sites and high security offices.

The project has faced legal scrutiny for years. In 2017, the Islamabad High Court upheld CDA’s move to cancel the land lease for the multi-storey building, while later legal challenges also kept the project in the public spotlight.
