The Karakoram Highway has been closed at multiple locations following heavy rainfall, landslides, and mudflows, causing major disruption to traffic and transport movement.
According to a spokesperson for the National Highway Authority (NHA), the highway has been completely closed for all types of traffic between Boshidas and Tatta Pani.
The shutdown has created serious difficulties for passengers and freight transporters traveling through the area.
The NHA said heavy machinery has been moved to the affected locations to clear debris and restore connectivity as soon as possible. Emergency clearance work is underway on a priority basis.
The spokesperson added that mudslides and accumulated debris are being removed urgently. However, continued unfavorable weather conditions are making restoration efforts more difficult.
Travelers have been advised to avoid unnecessary movement and check the road situation before starting their journey, as rain-related disruptions continue to affect key routes in the region.
