The National History Museum in Lahore will be hosting a dramatic reading of letters from Partition on August 13. The reading will be done by Adeel Afzal, a writer, actor and content creator. Afzal has acted in Parizaad , as well as the films Kamli and Zindagi Tamasha . He’s also the co-founder of Amtul Shahida, a collaborative scriptwriting company. Amtul Shahida wrote the script for the new HUM TV drama Bombay Tailors.

“In 1947, during Partition families were separated by borders and uncertainty. In a time when letters were often the only means of communication, they became lifelines carrying stories of hope, longing, and resilience,” reads the caption for the event announcement on Instagram.

The event invites participants to revisit these deeply personal experiences through the dramatic reading of “authentic letters exchanged during Partition and reflect on the emotional aspect of Partition 1947”.

The event will be held from 6pm to 7pm at the National History Museum, located in Lahore’s Greater Iqbal Park. The museum is touted as Pakistan’s first digital interactive museum, curated and managed by the Citizens Archive of Pakistan. It is a project of Lahore’s Parks and Horticulture Authority and opened its doors to the public in 2018.

The Citizens Archive is also working on a history museum in Karachi , the groundbreaking of which was performed by the chief minister and mayor in May at Clifton’s Beach View Park.
