The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a plan to provide interest-free loans for media startups, aimed at supporting young journalists in establishing their own platforms.

Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi said the initiative is being taken under Imran Khan’s vision of independent media, with a focus on providing practical support to journalists.

He said the plan includes a scheme for interest-free loans and aims to facilitate the establishment of independent media houses and digital platforms.

The chief minister said the initiative is expected to create new employment opportunities and strengthen professional independence among journalists. He added that the government is also working on a broader development strategy covering media, information technology, and other related sectors.

He said the plan includes the development of media colonies and the upgradation of press clubs in merged districts. The chief minister said the initiative reflects the government’s focus on empowering youth, promoting independent media, and supporting long-term development in the province.
