The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) has started work on a major plan to turn Sectors F-14 and F-15 into modern, green, and environmentally sustainable residential areas in Islamabad.
The initiative is being carried out on the directives of Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Works, Captain Muhammad Mahmood (Retd), and Director General FGEHA, Captain Zafar Iqbal (Retd).
As part of the plan, renowned horticulture expert and CDA Advisor Dr. Pervez Ahsan Khan held a detailed meeting with FGEHA engineers and the technical team. He later visited different sites in Sectors F-14 and F-15 and shared recommendations for landscaping, plantation, recreational spaces, and preservation of the natural environment.
According to FGEHA, the project will focus on modern horticulture, eco-friendly infrastructure, and the promotion of natural beauty to give the two sectors a distinct identity compared to conventional housing schemes.
The proposed plan includes the construction of modern check dams to conserve rainwater and improve groundwater recharge. Large-scale nurseries will also be established to grow thousands of varieties of plants and trees for the development.
The sectors will also feature cycling tracks, pedestrian walkways, scenic viewpoints, regulation points, seating areas, boating points, and suspension bridges, all designed to blend with the natural landscape.
During the meeting, project consultant M/s Osmani & Company (Pvt.) Ltd. was directed to include horticulture, landscaping, and environmentally friendly features in the master plan on a priority basis.
A separate meeting was also held with representatives of the National Logistics Corporation (NLC), where it was decided to include nurseries, check dams, and green infrastructure in the scope of NLC’s assigned works.
FGEHA also plans to preserve and develop the natural cave and lake located in Sector F-14 through modern engineering and landscaping techniques. These sites are expected to become major ecological and recreational attractions for residents and visitors.
Speaking on the occasion, DG FGEHA Captain Zafar Iqbal (Retd) said the development of F-14 and F-15 would go beyond basic infrastructure. He said the Authority aims to make the sectors a model of modern urban planning, environmental sustainability, natural beauty, and quality public amenities.
He added that FGEHA is determined to make the project one of the finest residential developments in the Federal Capital.
