Islamabad is experiencing an intense heatwave, with the city’s actual temperature reaching 38°C while the feels-like temperature climbed to 46°C, bringing conditions uncomfortably close to the 50°C mark.
According to the weather forecast, the capital remained mostly sunny under an excessive heat alert.
The forecast suggested that high temperatures would persist through the afternoon, with the mercury hovering around 38°C at 3 pm and 4 pm before easing slightly in the evening.
The weather forecast also showed 0 percent precipitation, wind speeds of 10 km/h, and 44 percent humidity, conditions that can make the heat feel harsher for people spending time outdoors.
A slight drop in temperature is expected over the next three days, but Tuesday’s daytime conditions remained severe enough to raise health concerns, especially for children, elderly citizens, outdoor workers, and people with medical conditions.
Residents are advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor movement during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and cover their heads when stepping outside.
With the feels-like temperature rising well above the actual reading, Islamabad is facing the kind of oppressive summer heat that can quickly lead to exhaustion and heatstroke if precautions are ignored.
