A draft proposal was tabled in the Iranian Parliament this week to award €50 million to anyone who carries out a fatal attack against US President Donald Trump, Iranian state media reported.
Chairman of parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Ebrahim Azizi said lawmakers have prepared multiple legislative proposals following recent regional tensions, including measures focused on retaliatory security actions.
Azizi said that Iran considers retaliation justified after the killing of senior Iranian commanders. He said one proposal under discussion would obligate the government to pay €50 million if any person or organization did similar damage to the United States.
The proposal has not been approved or enacted into law and remains under parliamentary review.
This comes as no surprise since US authorities have previously accused Iran-linked operatives of plotting attacks against Trump. In 2024, the US Department of Justice announced criminal charges connected to an alleged assassination conspiracy.
Trump has faced repeated threats since authorizing the 2020 drone strike that killed Qassem Soleimani, a senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Earlier this year, he authorized a deadly strike which resulted in the martyrdom of Ayatullah Ali Khamenei.
