Apple is expected to unveil iOS 27 on June 8 during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference.

The software update is expected to introduce a delayed, smarter version of Siri powered by Google’s Gemini technology, as well as new AI photo editing tools in the Photos app, as reported by Bloomberg .

The report says Apple is preparing a new Apple Intelligence Tools section within the editing interface. This section is expected to include four features: Extend, Enhance, Reframe, and Clean Up.

Extend is said to allow users to generate additional image content around the original frame to extend it. Users would reportedly control how much content is added and where it appears by dragging the edges of the photo.

Enhance is expected to use AI to improve colors, lighting, and overall image quality automatically.

Reframe is reportedly designed for spatial photos, Apple’s 3D image format built for the Apple Vision Pro. The feature would allow users to shift the viewing perspective after a photo has already been captured.

Clean Up is already available in the Photos app and remains Apple’s only AI-powered image editing tool at present. It allows users to remove unwanted objects from photos and is expected to continue as part of the app in iOS 27.

Bloomberg said development of the new AI features has faced challenges during internal testing.

According to the report, Extend and Reframe have not performed reliably, which could lead Apple to delay the features or reduce their capabilities before launch.

The report also noted user complaints about Clean Up, saying it can sometimes leave visual artifacts, distort images, or fill removed areas with inaccurate details.
