Insta360 has launched the Luna Pro, its second gimbal camera following the Luna Ultra. The new model drops the Ultra’s secondary telephoto camera but retains a 1-inch sensor and Leica optics.
The Luna Pro starts at around $505 and is currently available in China. Insta360 has not announced global availability yet.
The Luna Pro uses a 1-inch CMOS sensor paired with a Leica Summicron lens offering an f/1.8 aperture and 20mm-equivalent focal length.
It supports up to 8K video at 30fps, 4K at 120fps, and 1080p slow-motion recording at 240fps. Insta360 also claims up to 14 stops of dynamic range and support for 10-bit I-Log and Dolby Vision.
Its main highlight is vertical video. Insta360 calls the Luna Pro the industry’s first gimbal camera capable of outputting 4K 30fps video directly in a 9:16 format. It uses 6K oversampling to produce the 4K vertical footage.
The camera offers 2x lossless 4K zoom and up to 4x enhanced digital zoom, with AI processing used to maintain image detail at higher zoom levels.
The Luna Pro features three-axis stabilization and AI-powered subject tracking.
It includes three Leica color presets — Chrome, Natural, and Vivid — alongside six cinematic filters. Users can also share color settings through QR codes.
The camera can automatically optimize portraits based on facial features and skin tone. A dedicated color-temperature sensor adjusts white balance when lighting conditions change.
A 2-inch detachable OLED touchscreen doubles as a wireless remote, offering video monitoring and camera control from up to 20 meters away. The remote also contains a built-in wireless microphone.
The Luna Pro packs a 1,550mAh battery with up to four hours of claimed recording time. Fast charging can take the battery to 80% in 23 minutes.
It includes 47GB of built-in storage and supports expandable storage of up to 2TB.
An optional head-tracking accessory can also control the gimbal based on the user’s head movements for first-person recording.
