The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a heatwave alert for Karachi and several districts of Sindh, warning of very hot and dry conditions over the weekend and into early next week.

The Met Office said temperatures in Karachi may reach up to 38°C on Saturday and around 40°C on Sunday, with mercury expected to exceed 41°C on Monday, while “feels-like” temperatures could rise to 49–50°C due to high humidity.

According to the three-day outlook, humidity levels will remain elevated, reaching around 45% on Saturday and peaking at 70% on Sunday morning, before ranging between 40–50% during the day on Monday.

The PMD said central and upper Sindh will remain in the grip of intense heat, with temperatures likely to stay 3 to 5°C above normal in districts including Jamshoro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Kashmore, Ghotki, Khairpur, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Larkana, and Sukkur.

Dust storms and strong winds are also expected in parts of Sindh, including Jacobabad, Larkana, Kashmore, Shikarpur, and Sukkur, with a warning that gusty winds may damage weak structures and solar panels.

The Met Office advised the public to avoid direct sunlight, increase water intake, and take precautionary measures, particularly for children, women, and the elderly, while farmers have been urged to manage crops and protect livestock during the heatwave.
