The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has decided to establish seven National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hubs across Pakistan under the National AI Advancement Initiative, according to official documents. The AI Hubs will be set up in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit as part of the government’s efforts to promote artificial intelligence and strengthen Pakistan’s digital innovation ecosystem.

According to the documents, each AI Hub will include modern office facilities, high-speed internet connectivity, and advanced laboratories to support research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The initiative is being launched under the National AI Policy. A Request for Proposals (RFP) has already been issued for the establishment of the seven AI Hubs.

Under the plan, the government aims to incubate 560 AI startups over the next two years.

In addition, 150 AI startups will receive seed grants to help turn innovative ideas into commercially viable businesses.

The selected startups will also be connected with venture capital firms, incubators, and international technology networks to support their growth.

The AI Hubs will focus on developing artificial intelligence solutions for several key sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, education, fintech, and smart cities.

The project also makes the inclusion of women and people from underserved regions a mandatory component to ensure broader participation in Pakistan’s growing AI economy.

The official documents state that the initial contract for operating each AI Hub will be for one year, with the possibility of a one-year extension based on performance.

The initiative will also include two national AI hackathons and four AI awareness sessions to encourage innovation, collaboration, and public engagement in artificial intelligence.
