The government has decided to issue a commemorative coin to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations with China.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said the Rs75 coin will be available to the general public from May 25 (Monday) through the exchange counters at the field offices of SBP Banking Services Corporation.
Pakistan and China formally established diplomatic relations on May 21, 1951.
According to the central bank, the commemorative coin is round and milled with serrations on the edge. It is made of 75 per cent copper and 25pc nickel. It has a diameter of 36mm and weighs 19g.
“On the obverse side of the coin, the waxing crescent moon and five-pointed star facing North-West in the rising position, is in the centre,” it said. It added that the periphery was inscribed with the words “ Islami jamhuria Pakistan ”.
“Below the crescent and on the top of two springs of wheat with arms curved upward, there is the year of issuance 2026,” it said. Further, the number “75” and the word “ rupiah ” appear on the right and left sides of the crescent star, respectively.
On the reverse side of the coin, the words “75th anniversary of Pakistan and China diplomatic relations” are written along the periphery at the top, while the words “trust, friendship and support” are written along the lower periphery.
The centre of the coin features the flags of both countries, with the number “75” appearing below them and the years “1951” and “2026” appearing on either side.
The phrase “ Pak Cheen sifarati tauluqat kay 75 saal ” is written in Urdu and Chinese above both the national flags, while the phrase “ eitamad-dosti-mu’awanat ” appears in both languages below the number in the centre.
