The government has revised passport delivery timelines, shortening the wait for applicants under the normal category and introducing a faster processing schedule across all major passport services.

Under the updated application priority system for Machine Readable Passports (MRP), fast-track applications will now be delivered within two working days, while passports submitted under the urgent category will be issued within five working days.

Meanwhile, normal passport applications will be delivered within 21 working days after successful processing.

While fast-track and urgent services remain the quickest options for those willing to pay higher fees, the reduction in normal passport delivery time is likely to benefit a much larger number of citizens.

The fast-track facility will be available in 47 cities, according to the updated priority schedule. This means applicants in selected urban centers will be able to receive their passports in as little as two working days.

With the new delivery timeline now in place, applicants are expected to closely compare the three available categories before submitting their requests, depending on urgency and affordability.
