Google has launched Lyria 3.5, its latest AI music generation model, with improvements to melodies, lyrics, vocals, and creative control.

The model began rolling out in Google Flow Music on July 29, where users can generate and edit songs using AI.

Google says Lyria 3.5 can create richer and more complex melodies that sound more natural.

Lyric generation has also improved, with the model following prompts more closely and showing better understanding of song structure.

Google also says generated vocals are now more realistic and expressive, with better emotional delivery and pronunciation.

Users also get greater control over tempo and song duration, allowing them to more directly shape the final output.

Google Flow Music allows users to create songs from text prompts and can also use images, existing audio, and microphone recordings as references.

After creating a track, users can ask the AI to change its structure, adjust the mix, or switch its musical style.

Tracks can also be remixed by extending sections, replacing parts, or creating alternative versions. Users can edit lyrics and cover art, publish songs, share them through links, and download the finished audio.

Flow Music’s core features are available without charge to users aged 18 or older in supported regions. Paid plans and Google AI memberships provide additional credits and generations.

Google previously released Lyria 3 across several products. Lyria 3 Pro can generate tracks of roughly three minutes, while Lyria 3 Clip produces 30-second music clips. Developer versions are available through Google AI Studio, the Gemini API, and Google’s cloud AI services.

For now, Google’s Lyria 3.5 announcement specifically covers Flow Music. Google’s current developer pricing page still lists Lyria 3 Clip and Lyria 3 Pro, rather than Lyria 3.5.

Google’s Lyria model documentation also says the system uses safety filtering and SynthID watermarking to help identify AI-generated audio. Its Lyria 3 model card states that it also covers subsequent versions of the model.
