The All Pakistan Goods Transporters Alliance’s strike entered its fourth day on Tuesday as negotiations with the government failed to produce an agreement.
Alliance President Malik Shehzad Awan said transporters had decided to continue the strike and urged the government to take serious steps to end the deadlock. He said the transporters had not closed the door to further negotiations but wanted clear progress on their demands before ending the protest.
The transporters launched the strike to protest increases in petroleum product prices and the daily revision of fuel prices. The continued suspension of goods transportation has raised concerns about disruptions to the supply of essential commodities and a possible increase in food prices.
Awan called on the government to address the transporters’ concerns and take concrete measures to resolve the dispute.
