Kinza Hashmi has gained quite a fanbase from her role as a shrewd political scion in Leader, including a couple of actual parliamentarians . One of the legislators, MNA Romina Khurshid Alam, even invited the actor to the National Assembly.
In an Instagram reel shared on Thursday, Hashmi walked into the assembly building with Alam giving her a tour and showing her the many artworks, dioramas and artefacts on display.
The actor also visited the assembly floor, meeting staffers there and in her host’s office, where the three-time MNA presented her with a token of appreciation and spoke highly of her work representing female legislators in the media.
Alam said she was “proud” of Hashmi for bringing the lives of female parliamentarians and politicians to the screen and thanked her for her work, which she said she found to be “commendable”.
In the post’s caption, the actor said visiting parliament gave her a deeper understanding of the role she played in Leader . “Politics, what just looks like a privilege is more than that — it’s a responsibility, a duty and an all-time commitment,” she wrote.
Hashmi also sat down with Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar during her visit. She said they had a “productive discussion on critical issues, particularly those affecting women in media in our country”.
Earlier in July, Alam and Balochistan MNA Jamal Raisani praised the actor’s performance in Leader, with Alam saying Hashmi owned the role and calling her acting “absolutely phenomenal”.
The actor thanked both lawmakers for their kind words.
Hashmi’s onscreen persona in Leader , Rubab, is the daughter of a shrewd politician with a feudal background. In later episodes, she takes the reins of her father’s political empire, coming into her own as an iron-willed party leader.
