Sarfraz Bugti has inaugurated Balochistan’s first research facility dedicated to countering violent extremism, marking a major step toward addressing growing security and social challenges in the province.

The newly established Balochistan Centre of Excellence on Countering Violent Extremism will focus on studying the root causes of extremism, particularly among youth, and developing practical, research-based solutions.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mir Zia Langove, lawmakers, and senior officials.

Briefing participants, Additional Chief Secretary Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat outlined the centre’s research scope and future initiatives.

Speaking at the event, Bugti stressed that guiding young people toward constructive activities remains a top government priority. He said the centre would help counter extremist narratives and promote a more informed and balanced perspective.

Following the inauguration, the chief minister visited the National University of Sciences and Technology, where he engaged with students in a detailed dialogue session.

He encouraged them to rely on practical research and critical thinking to distinguish between perception and reality, noting that misinformation often distorts the image of Balochistan.

Bugti reaffirmed his commitment to continued dialogue with youth, saying open discussions would help bridge the gap between the state and young people in the province.

Separately, the chief minister also launched a digital dashboard developed by the Bureau of Statistics, Balochistan, under the planning and development department.

The platform aims to strengthen evidence-based policymaking and modernise development planning across the province.

Officials said the combined initiatives reflect the government’s broader strategy to address extremism, improve governance, and empower youth through data-driven policies and inclusive engagement.
