Meta has announced a new set of AI tools for Facebook users as the company continues adding artificial intelligence features across its apps.
The latest update includes AI Mode for search, new photo and video editing tools, AI-powered photo presets, and more creator-focused features.
The main update is AI Mode, a new way to search on Facebook using Meta AI.
Instead of scrolling through regular search results, users can ask questions in plain language and receive answers based on public posts across Facebook, including Groups and Reels.
Meta says AI Mode is designed to provide answers based on real user perspectives and experiences rather than a generic list of search results.
The feature is powered by Meta’s Muse Spark technology.
AI Mode follows Meta’s recent launch of Forum, a Reddit-style app that also includes an AI “Ask” tab.
That feature lets users ask questions and receive answers pulled from discussions happening across Facebook Groups.
However, both AI Mode and the Forum’s Ask tab raise questions about reliability. Since the answers are based on public posts and group discussions instead of vetted sources, there is a risk that outdated or misleading information could appear in AI-generated responses.
Similar concerns have already been raised about Google’s AI Mode on Reddit.

Facebook is also getting new AI editing tools for photos and videos. The update includes collage cutout templates for editing photos from the camera roll.
Meta has also added new transition effects that can create smooth, stylized video montages with a tap. The company says these tools are designed to make edited videos ready to share quickly.
Meta has also added AI-powered photo presets that let users change their clothing, hair, and accessories. The company is pitching the feature to sports fans, allowing them to virtually wear a team jersey in photos.
Users can access the feature by tapping the AI Edit icon in Stories and selecting Wear It. They can also use it from their profile picture by selecting Restyle profile picture with AI and then Wardrobe.
The new tools add to several AI features Meta has already introduced on Facebook this year.
In February, the company launched animated profile pictures that can bring still photos to life, such as by adding a wave or placing a virtual party hat on a person’s head.
In March, Meta added an AI feature to Facebook Marketplace that can automatically reply to buyer messages on behalf of sellers.
Earlier this month, Facebook also launched an AI assistant for creators. The tool provides personalized suggestions, including the best times to post and summaries of what audiences are saying in the comments, based on a creator’s content and performance history.
The new AI tools are rolling out now to Facebook users on mobile. Meta has not said whether the features will also come to the web version of Facebook.
The company is also adding AI features as it expands paid subscriptions across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Its global subscription plans start at $3.99 per month and unlock additional features, while more AI-related subscription tiers are reportedly planned.
