The government has accelerated work on the Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway, with three northern sections of the long-delayed M-6 project expected to be completed between March and May 2029.

According to official documents, progress is moving ahead on Sections III, IV and V, which cover the Nawabshah-to-Sukkur stretch of the motorway.

Sections IV and V, covering Naushero Feroz-Ranipur and Ranipur-Sukkur, are being financed by the Islamic Development Bank.

The prequalification notice for both sections was published on December 13, 2025, while the prequalification evaluation report was submitted to the lender on March 18, 2026. Civil works contracts for the two sections are expected to be awarded between September and October this year.

The Islamic Development Bank had approved $475 million in financing for the two sections on September 29, 2025. The financing agreement between Pakistan and the lender was signed on January 19, 2026.

Section III, which runs from Nawabshah to Naushero Feroz, is being financed by the OPEC Fund. Bidding documents for the section were sent to the lender on January 26, 2026 for concurrence, and discussions on comments have continued since then.

Final approval is still awaited, but authorities expect the bid to be advertised this month, with contract award targeted for October 2026.

The OPEC Fund Board approved $230 million for Section III on March 25, 2026.

Meanwhile, Sections I and II, covering Hyderabad-Tando Adam and Tando Adam-Nawabshah, will be developed under a public-private partnership model already cleared by ECNEC.

The Public Private Partnership Authority had approved the hiring of an international financial institution as transaction adviser in September 2025, while the NHA Board later cleared the Asian Development Bank’s proposal in March 2026. A transaction advisory services agreement was signed with the ADB on April 21, 2026.

The ADB is expected to complete its advisory study within four months, while the concession award for the two southern sections is anticipated by February 2027.
