The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) on Tuesday opened financial bids for the upgradation and expansion of Farooq Ahmed Khan Leghari International Airport in Dera Ghazi Khan.
The bids were opened at 3pm at the P&D Conference Room at PAA headquarters in Karachi in the presence of bidders’ representatives. The bid opening ceremony was also broadcast live on the authority’s official social media platforms, including Facebook and YouTube, to ensure transparency.
According to project details, the initiative aims to restore and modernize the airport’s airside infrastructure to improve safety, operational reliability, and readiness for commercial jet operations. The project is also expected to strengthen connectivity within Pakistan’s aviation network.
Minister for Power Awais Leghari, who represents Dera Ghazi Khan in the National Assembly, said the opening of bids marks a key step toward completion of the project. He said the airport’s expansion and upgradation will enable it to handle modern facilities and pave the way for the start of international flights.
He added that the development will improve travel facilities for the public and support economic activity, trade, and growth in Dera Ghazi Khan and surrounding areas.
