The Islamabad High Court on Friday barred the Anti-Narcotics Force from making new recruitments until it decides the case.
Justice Muhammad Azam Khan also stayed implementation of the recruitment advertisement and ordered that the process remain suspended until the final verdict.
The court disposed of a miscellaneous petition after removing objections raised by the Registrar’s Office and fixed the main case for hearing on August 22.
ANF Constable Muhammad Shafiq Khan challenged the recruitment advertisement. He named the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Law and the ANF director general as respondents.
In his petition, Khan said he had served in the same post for 10 years without promotion and ranked 232nd in the seniority list of 665 constables.
He argued that the ANF should not advertise direct recruitments without first holding a Departmental Promotion Committee meeting. He also claimed the service structure of civilian employees should be restored, and the ANF’s recent recruitment advertisement should be declared illegal.
The petitioner asked the court to direct the department to immediately form a DPC and fill vacant posts through departmental promotions.
