Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced plans to establish Nawaz Sharif Schools in every tehsil and distribute 100,000 free electric bikes to students as part of the Punjab government’s efforts to improve access to education.

Speaking at a ceremony in Arifwala, the chief minister said the government is transforming public schools into modern educational institutions with equal opportunities for students from all backgrounds. She also announced 100,000 laptops and 50,000 merit scholarships for students.

Maryam Nawaz said the Punjab government is investing Rs. 40 billion to upgrade government schools by adding new classrooms, furniture, clean drinking water, bathrooms, fans and other essential facilities. She added that science, technology, computer, IT and artificial intelligence (AI) labs are also being established to equip students with modern skills.

She said the government also plans to establish 300 modern schools across Punjab and continues to expand the Green Electric Bus service to provide students with safe and reliable transportation.

The chief minister also urged parents to keep children away from unsafe areas during the rainy season and called for greater vigilance following recent incidents that claimed the lives of several children.
