Activision has confirmed that the next Call of Duty title will not be released on last-generation consoles. The update was shared through the official Call of Duty X account in response to rumors circulating online.
The statement specifically confirmed that the upcoming game is not being developed for the PlayStation 4. While only the PS4 was mentioned, it is expected that the Xbox One will also be excluded.
The decision means players using last-generation consoles will not be able to access this year’s release.
The long support period for older hardware suggests the player base remained large enough to justify continued development until now.
Not sure where this one started, but it’s not true. The next Call of Duty is not being developed for PS4.

Recent entries in the series have shown performance limitations on older consoles.
The shift away from last-generation systems is expected to allow developers to focus on improving overall performance and features on newer hardware.
The next Call of Duty , widely expected to be Modern Warfare 4 , faces additional challenges.
Future Call of Duty titles are no longer expected to be included in Xbox Game Pass, which could affect player reach.
The game is also set to launch in a period that may overlap with the release of Grand Theft Auto VI , currently scheduled for November 19.
