Conservative politician and businessman Umer Farooq has announced a £50,000 reward for information leading to the identification of those involved in attacks on his family home and airline ticketing business in Hounslow, West London.
Farooq’s family home, also linked to fellow Conservative politician Tariq Aziz, was attacked when bricks were thrown through upstairs and downstairs windows. The incident caused serious damage and left family members, including children, deeply shaken.
According to the family, several relatives narrowly escaped injury as bricks landed close to them inside the house. A family car parked outside was also destroyed.
A day later, Farooq’s airline ticketing business was allegedly targeted in a separate firebomb attack. CCTV footage reportedly shows a black car stopping outside the premises before a masked man gets out, pours petrol on a vehicle and sets it on fire.
The blaze damaged the front entrance of the office before firefighters arrived within 15 minutes and extinguished it.
Farooq, who runs a business providing airline tickets for Pakistan, the Middle East and other international destinations, described the attack as “planned and professional.” He claimed the suspects used a stolen car and said timely action by the fire brigade prevented further destruction.
The incidents come amid political tensions after recent local council elections. Labour suffered major losses across Britain, losing nearly 1,500 council seats. In Hounslow, Labour retained control but lost 20 seats, reducing its majority in a borough with a large Pakistani and Asian community.
Local Conservative supporters claimed tensions increased after Pakistani and Asian candidates campaigned strongly and Conservatives made gains in areas previously considered Labour strongholds.
They alleged that some local Labour figures were behind hostility and intimidation, but no evidence has been publicly presented linking anyone to the attacks.
Farooq said his family’s safety is at risk and criticized local police for failing to provide adequate protection. “No family should have to live in fear in their own home,” he said, urging anyone with information to assist the investigation.
Police said they are investigating the incidents and have gathered evidence. The local Labour Party denied any connection to the attacks.
