Australian cricket captain Pat Cummins has expressed support for Greg Chappell and other former international cricket captains who have called for Imran Khan to receive court-ordered medical care and continued family visits.
In a post on X, previously known a twitter, Cummins said he was adding his support to Chappell and the other former captains.
“Adding my support here to GC and the other former international captains. I hope the court ordered medical assessment be allowed to run its course, and that family visits continue. I hope Imran Khan is treated with the dignity anyone deserves,” he wrote.

His statement comes after 21 former international cricket captains renewed their appeal to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif over the medical treatment of the incarcerated PTI founder.
The former captains raised concerns after the Supreme Court ordered on August 18 that Khan be transferred from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital for examination and treatment. However, he was instead taken to PIMS, where doctors from Shifa International Hospital were also present.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said a medical team comprising an ophthalmologist, cardiologist and physician examined Khan and declared him medically fit.
The former captains said Khan remained at the hospital for only a few hours before being returned to jail. They called for the medical board directed by the Supreme Court, including Khan’s personal doctors and his sister Dr. Uzma Khan, to be allowed to complete a full assessment.
They also called for an independent medical examination, particularly regarding the reported loss of vision in Khan’s right eye, uninterrupted weekly family visits and immediate implementation of any treatment recommended by the medical board.
The signatories include Greg Chappell, Ian Chappell, Allan Border, Sunil Gavaskar, David Gower, Clive Lloyd, Arjuna Ranatunga, Steve Waugh and John Wright. The latest appeal follows a similar letter from 14 former international captains in February regarding Khan’s health.
