The Ministry of IT & Telecom is preparing to launch AeroFusion 2026, a national hackathon focused on aerospace, aviation, and emerging technologies.
The event will be hosted by the National Incubation Center for Aerospace Technologies (NICAT) and aims to bring together students, researchers, innovators, and industry professionals to solve real-world aerospace and deep-tech challenges.
The initiative is funded by the Ministry of IT & Telecom through Ignite National Technology Fund and is being implemented in collaboration with several organizations, including NETSOL Technologies, National Aerospace Science and Technology Park, Air University, and Pakistan Aeronautical Complex.
According to the organizers, AeroFusion 2026 is designed to be more than a traditional hackathon. The event will provide a high-intensity innovation environment where participants will build, test, improve, and challenge ideas in real time. Teams will work in a live build environment while receiving continuous guidance and feedback from mentors.
Participants will collaborate in teams to solve industry-specific problems and move through a structured innovation process, beginning with problem analysis and ending with the presentation of fully developed solutions before an expert evaluation panel.
The hackathon will focus on several technology areas, including autonomous systems, AI-driven simulations, advanced materials, environmental intelligence, and secure communication systems. These themes are aligned with the increasing demands of Pakistan’s aerospace sector and will give participants the opportunity to work with technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence, IoT, and drone systems.
Each focus area will feature a dedicated problem statement. Challenges will range from developing autonomous robotic systems for maintenance operations to creating counter-drone solutions aimed at improving airspace security.
Teams that perform well during AeroFusion 2026 may advance into NICAT’s evaluation pipeline, opening the door to possible incubation opportunities. Selected participants could receive continued support, mentorship, and resources from NICAT and its partners to further develop their ideas and projects.
Top-performing teams will also receive recognition and certification from NICAT, along with opportunities to connect with industry experts and organizations involved in Pakistan’s aerospace and defense ecosystem.
Applications for AeroFusion 2026 will close on 19 May 2026. Organizers say the event offers innovators an opportunity to gain practical experience, solve industry challenges, and build long-term connections within Pakistan’s growing aerospace innovation network.
