The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the National Highway Authority (NHA) have signed an agreement to develop two sections of the M6 Hyderabad–Sukkur Motorway under a public-private partnership (PPP) model.

The agreement was signed by ADB Country Director for Pakistan Emma Fan and NHA Member PPP Ijaz Ahmed. The ceremony was witnessed by NHA Member Planning Dr. Shafeeq Ahmad, ADB Deputy Country Director Syed Hussain Haider, and Mohammed Azim Hashimi, Director Advisory Division 1.

Under the arrangement, ADB will provide advisory support for the project, including feasibility studies, development of a bankable PPP structure, and assistance in transparent procurement processes to attract private sector participation. The support will also cover efforts toward achieving commercial and financial closure.

The project involves the construction of a 120-kilometer, six-lane motorway starting from Hyderabad, equipped with modern tolling, traffic management, and safety systems.

Officials said the motorway will complete a key missing link in Pakistan’s north-south high-speed road network, improve logistics efficiency, reduce travel time, and support trade flows across the country.

The development is part of broader efforts to complete the Peshawar–Karachi Motorway corridor.
