The Rawalpindi district administration has reopened Pir Wadhai Adda and restored all related transport services, days after the bus terminal was kept shut despite the wider reopening of the city’s transport network.

In a fresh update, the Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi announced that Pir Wadhai Adda had also been reopened, marking a full restoration of transport operations in the city.

Earlier, on April 25, the district administration had said that all entry and exit points of Rawalpindi had been reopened for private, public, and goods transport, but clarified that Pir Wadhai Adda would remain closed until further orders.

That restriction has now been lifted.

Pir Wadhai Adda has also been reopened along with all related transport services. راولپنڈی انتظامیہ کی جانب سے مطلع کیا جاتا ہے کہ تمام متعلقہ ٹرانسپورٹ سروسز کے ساتھ پیر ودھائی اڈہ بھی کھول دیا گیا ہے.

The latest development comes after authorities in both Islamabad and Rawalpindi had already allowed all types of public and goods transport to re-enter the twin cities. At the time, Islamabad had reopened all bus terminals across the city except Faizabad, while Rawalpindi had reopened all traffic routes but kept Pir Wadhai Adda shut.

Transport services in the twin cities had been suspended on April 19, when the district administrations in Islamabad and Rawalpindi halted public and goods transport without sharing a formal explanation for the move. Officials had only asked citizens to cooperate with security agencies.

Since then, restrictions have gradually been eased.

Along with transport relief, Islamabad’s administration has also reopened Margalla hiking trails, as well as public spots including Daman-e-Koh and Lake View Park.

The administration has, however, continued to enforce revised business timings under the federal government’s austerity measures.

Under the updated schedule, markets and shopping malls must close at 8pm, while restaurants, food outlets, tandoors, wedding halls, marquees, sports facilities, clubs, and gymnasiums can remain open until 10pm. Essential services such as medical stores, hospitals, petrol pumps, and dairy shops remain exempt.
